# DAY 20-22 #90DaysOfDevops

For the past 3 days, i learnt how to use 4 services on the linux server and also navigate the internet securely.

To start the services, the *service servicename start|stop|restart* command is applied.

First of the 4 services i worked with apache2 which i started with *service apache2 start*. The apache2 server is used to set up a web server. i edited an index.html file which opened on my lohost.

Next up is the ssh. i connected my terminal to a remote server *www.test.rebex.net* and played around.

Up next was using the mysql which is the most widely used database behind database-driven web apllications. I created a database. It was quite challenging, i have to take more lessons on that.

lastly, i booted up PostgreSQL with metasploit. Postgresql is the default database of metasploit which is the most widely used penetration testing and hacking framework. i connected postgresql with msfconsole and that’s all with using and abusing services.

I then learnt on how to be secure and anonymous on the internet. Nearly everything we do is tracked, recorded and indexed.

To navigate the WWW anonymously, there are 4 methods:

1\. The Onion network: To use the The Onion Network (TOR) , just install the tor browser. By using this browser, you can navigate without being tracked.

2\. Proxy servers: Using proxies to act as middlemen for traffic. The proxies can be added manually or left automatically while using the command *proxychain*. When left automatically, proxyChain defaults to using TOR proxy.

3\. Virtual Private Networks.

4\. Private encrypted mail: Free commercial email services such as Gmail, Yahoo track your interests and serve up advertisements. That’s why protonMail was developed

Cheers to many more days!
